Clowns at Shriner

these are a couple of the clowns that visited Shriners the day we took Erik for his post op check up. the Clown that is holding Erik shared with us that he was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate and he had 6 surgeries by the time he was 21 and that his palate is still partially open because back then, they really didn't know how to repair them.  Erik wasn't afraid to the clowns, but at first he wasn't too sure what to think. As I was getting him out of his carrier, his eyes and mouth were as big as his head, but he never puckered or cried at the clown. Nicholas at this age, bawled when he met Ronald McDonald.

Erik's check up @ Shriner

Erik's check up at Shriners went well. Dr. G and Dr. Rob were very pleased at his healing. We are being scheduled for palate surgery sometime early September.

What's been happening

I guess I'll start by giving an update on the family. Kayla will be turning 11 in May. She is in 5th grade and plays the violin is string orchestra. She is in girl scouts, 4 H and Horse and Pony. She is leasing a horse this summer for 4 H and is going to be competing. Not yet sure what she wants to do, but going to start working on that very soon. Nicholas will be 5 in April. He is in 3 day preschool this year and loves it. He is going to play Tball this spring. I am soooo excited!!! Emily(emma monster is her nick name) is 2 and is our spit fire. She is miss independent and wants to do EVERYTHING on her own. Our little man Erik is 4 months. He was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. He had his lip repaired January 27 and 4 weeks later it looks amazing. He's amazing!!! He's trying to roll from back to tummy. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have these beautiful babies in my life. They are my life, my sunshine, my happiness. I thank God every second of every day that he chose me to be their mommy!!!
